Rep. Dufault secures funding for Zillah Veterans Memorial Park and Ride

The final 2019-2021 transportation budget approved by the Legislature Sunday includes funding for the Zillah Veterans Memorial Park and Ride.

Rep. Jeremie Dufault, R-Selah, a member of the House Transportation Committee, said a 101-space facility will provide parking for the Veterans Memorial and the Teapot Dome historical site. The park and ride will also serve carpoolers commuting on I-82 to Yakima and the Lower Valley, and will be a launch site for wine-country tours. The budget provides $664,000 for the project, which, in addition to funds already invested by the City of Zillah, will be enough to complete the facility.

“This project will improve access to one of the Yakima Valley's crown jewels – the Zillah Veterans Memorial,” said Dufault. “I am grateful to Senator King, and my seatmates Senator Honeyford and Representative Chandler, for helping me successfully navigate the budget process.”
